Features & Usage

Another Notepad automatically saves your work as you type. After you've typed a few words, the autosave feature activates and continuously saves your content to your browser's local storage.

You'll see a "Saved" indicator in the status bar when your content has been successfully saved. This means you can close the tab or browser and return later to find your note exactly as you left it (within the 24-hour timeframe).

Another Notepad offers several basic formatting options:

  • Font Family: You can change the font using the dropdown menu in the toolbar.
  • Font Size: Adjust text size using the size dropdown in the toolbar.
  • Dark Mode: Toggle between light and dark themes using the sun/moon icon.

We intentionally keep formatting simple to focus on the content rather than complex design elements.

Yes, you can create multiple notes using the tabs feature at the bottom of the notepad. Here's how it works:

  1. Click the "+" button in the tab bar to create a new note
  2. Each note is saved separately in your browser's local storage
  3. Click on different tabs to switch between your notes

You can have up to 5 notes at once, and each note has its own 24-hour expiration timer.

Another Notepad supports the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • Ctrl+S (or Cmd+S on Mac): Manually save your note
  • Ctrl+C: Copy selected text
  • Ctrl+X: Cut selected text
  • Ctrl+V: Paste text
  • Ctrl+F: Find text in your note

We also support all standard text editing shortcuts that work in your browser.

Saving & Privacy

Your notes are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage on your device. We don't upload or store your notes on any servers.

This means:

  • Your notes are only accessible from the device and browser you used to create them
  • We cannot access, read, or recover your notes
  • If you clear your browser data or use private/incognito browsing, your notes will be lost

Your notes are stored in your browser's local storage for 24 hours from the time of creation. After that period, they are automatically deleted to maintain privacy and encourage digital minimalism.

If you need to keep a note for longer than 24 hours, we recommend using the "Save as File" option in the toolbar to download a local copy to your device.

Since your notes are stored only in your local browser storage:

  • Your notes never leave your device
  • We don't have access to what you write
  • The security depends on your device and browser security

However, be cautious when using shared computers or devices, as anyone with access to that device could potentially see your notes if they use the same browser before the 24-hour expiration.

To save your note permanently:

  1. Click the "Save as File" button in the toolbar (icon with a download arrow)
  2. Your browser will download a text file containing your note
  3. Save this file to your desired location on your device

You can also print your note using the Print button in the toolbar, or copy and paste the content into another document.

Troubleshooting

Since notes are stored in your browser's local storage, there are limited recovery options:

  • Check other tabs in the notepad interface - you might have multiple notes
  • Make sure you're using the same browser and device where you created the note
  • Check if you're in incognito/private browsing mode - notes created in private browsing are deleted when you close the window
  • Verify you haven't cleared your browser data recently

If more than 24 hours have passed since you created the note, it has been automatically deleted and cannot be recovered.

If autosave isn't working, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check if your browser supports local storage (most modern browsers do)
  2. Make sure you haven't disabled local storage in your browser settings
  3. Ensure you're not in private/incognito browsing mode, which may limit local storage
  4. Check if your device has sufficient storage space
  5. Try a different browser to rule out browser-specific issues

Since notes are stored in your local browser storage:

  • Notes are only accessible on the same device and browser where they were created
  • You cannot access your notes from a different device or browser
  • To transfer a note to another device, use the "Save as File" option and move the file manually

This limitation is by design to enhance privacy - your data stays on your device.
